VICTIM SURVIVOR GROUP COUNSELING: Did you know that you can suffer from trauma even when the traumatic event did not happen directly to you? Trauma is experienced in two ways:  First-Hand trauma, this means, it happened directly to you if you were beaten, raped, robbed or even involved in a bad weather storm like a tornado, hurricane or earth quake, as long as you were directly involved in the traumatic event, you were considered to have suffered trauma first-hand.  The other type of trauma is called Second-Hand or Vicarious trauma.  This means that you have been affected by a traumatic event by either witnessing it while it happened to someone else or even by hearing about a bad thing that happened to someone else whether it was someone close to you or something bad you might have heard that happened to someone or a group of people far away. You can still be emotionally and psychologically affected by a traumatic event even when it did not happen directly to you. When you suffer any kind of trauma, whether it is a natural disaster (hurricane, earthquake, tornado, etch.) a man-made disaster (child molestation, rape, burglary/robbery, witnessed a death, fire, etc.), and even if it did not happen to you but to someone else, it helps when you realize that you are not alone. When you are among others who have experienced bad things in their own lives, you can begin to move forward in your own life in a healthy way. Group counseling participants can share their experiences and learn effective coping skills that will bring forth a healthy personal healing progress. Give yourself the healing opportunity to spend time around others who have had a trauma in their lives too while you gain and build the skills you need to move forward in a healthy and thriving life! This group brings forth positive growth and changes to participants. This victim survival group counseling opportunity is for victims of all ages. Group sessions held weekly from 1hr to 1.5 hr for victims of all ages: Children (ages 5 - 10); Adolescents (ages 11-17); Adults 18 and up.
